Forex101: Glossary and Definition of Terms

Before trading demo or live, you should equipped yourself with the following terms commonly encountered while trading...
Ask: Price at which broker/dealer is willing to sell. Same as "Offer".
Bid: Price at which broker/dealer is willing to buy.
Bid/Ask Spread (or "Spread"): The distance, usually in pips, between the Bid and Ask price. A tighter spread is better for the trader.
Cost of Carry (also "Interest" or "Premium"): The cost, often quoted in terms of dollars or pips per day, of holding an open position.
Currency Futures: Futures contracts traded on an exchange, most typically the Chicago Mercantile Exchange ("CME"). Always quoted in terms of the currency value with respect to the US Dollar. Parameters of the futures contract are standardized by the exchange.
Drawdown: The magnitude of a decline in account value, either in percentage or dollar terms, as measured from peak to subsequent trough. For example, if a trader's account increased in value from $10,000 to $20,000, then dropped to $15,000, then increased again to $25,000, that trader would have had a maximum drawdown of $5,000 (incurred when the account declined from $20,000 to $15,000) even though that trader's account was never in a loss position from inception.
EBS: "Electronic Brokerage System", the electronic system on which major banks trade with each other. This is considered to be the most definitive indicator of prices at which currencies are "really" trading, at least for EUR/USD and USD/JPY.
Forex: Short for "Foreign Exchange". Refers generally to the Foreign Exchange trading industry and/or to the currencies themselves.
Fundamental Analysis: Macro or strategic assessments of where a currency should be trading based on any criteria but the price action itself. These criteria often include the economic condition of the country that the currency represents, monetary policy, and other "fundamental" elements.
Leverage: The amount, expressed as a multiple, by which the notional amount traded exceeds the margin required to trade. For example, if the notional amount traded (also referred to as "lot size" or "contract value") is $100,000 dollars and the required margin is $2,000, the trader can trade with 50 times leverage ($100,000/$2,000).
Limit: An order to buy at a specified price when the market moves down to that price, or to sell at a specified price when the market moves up to that price.
Liquidity: A function of volume and activity in a market. It is the efficiency and cost effectiveness with which positions can be traded and orders executed. A more liquid market will provide more frequent price quotes at a smaller bid/ask spread.
Margin: The amount of funds required in a clients account in order to open a position or to maintain an open position. For example, 1% margin means that $1,000 of funds on deposit are required for a $100,000 position.
Margin Call: A requirement by the broker to deposit more funds in order to maintain an open position. Sometimes a "margin call" means that the position which does not have sufficient funds on deposit will simply be closed out by the broker. This procedure allows the client to avoid further losses or a debit account balance.
Market Order: An order to buy at the current Ask price.
Offer: Price at which broker/dealer is willing to sell. Same as "Ask".
Pip: The smallest price increment in a currency. Often referred to as "ticks" in the futures markets. For example, in EURUSD, a move from .9015 to .9016 is one pip. In USDJPY, a move from 128.51 to 128.52 is one pip.
Premium (also "Interest" or "Cost of Carry"): The cost, often quoted in terms of dollars or pips per day, of holding an open position.
Roll over: Is the changing of futures when they expire to the new contract.
Spot Foreign Exchange: Often referred to as the "interbank" market. Refers to currencies traded between two counterparties, often major banks. Spot Foreign Exchange is generally traded on margin. Generally more liquid and widely traded than currency futures, particularly by institutions and professional money managers.
Stop: An order to buy at the market only when the market moves up to a specific price, or to sell at the market only when the market moves down to a specific price.
Technical Analysis: Analysis applied to the price action of the market to develop trading decisions, irrespective of fundamental factors.
Tick: The smallest price increment in a futures or CFD price. Often referred to as a "pip" in the currency markets. For example, in Down Jones Industrials, a move from 8845 to 8846 is one tick. In S&P 500, a move from 902.50 to 902.51 is one tick.

Joseph Lewis: Forex Billionaire

Born Joe Lewis (born East London in 1936 or '37) is an English billionaire who lives in Lyford Cay, Bahamas. Lewis is the 369th richest person of Forbes The World's Richest People list 2007. Lewis was listed as the 16th richest British person in Sunday Times Rich List 2007.
Lewis made his initial wealth expanding the family's catering business, then selling luxury goods to tourists, and finally moving into currency trading in the 1970s - resulting in his move to the Bahamas. Lewis currently is the main investor in Tavistock Group, which owns more than 100 companies, such as Tottenham Hotspur F.C. and SK Slavia Praha. Lewis is a major investor in ENIC Sports PLC, run by Daniel Levy, the Chairman of Tottenham Hotspur. The Tavistock Group recently sold its currency trading firm HotSpot FX for $77 million.
Lewis, married with two children, has homes all over the world at which he is able to indulge his passion for golf. Lewis hosts the "Tavistock Cup" tournament every March in Florida, raising millions of dollars for charity, and owns the two clubs that compete: the "Lake Nona" club (resident Ernie Els) and the "Isleworth Club" (resident Tiger Woods). He is presently developing a new golf community in the Bahamas called "Albany Golf & Beach Club" with his two golfing friends.
Lewis has also been a force in bringing bio-technology and new healthcare offerings to Central Florida. With his philanthropic support, Tavistock Group's 7,000-acre (28 km²) Lake Nona master plan development is an emerging biomedical research and educational hub highlighted by the University of Central Florida's College of Medicine and Healthcare Campus, the Burnham Institute for Medical Research, a University of Florida Research Center, a Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Nemours Children's Hospital, all building significant facilities within this community.
On September 10, 2007, he was in the news for paying $860.4 million in an all-cash purchase of a 7 percent stake in Bear Stearns. By December of 2007 Lewis had raised his stake at the brokerage firm to 9.4%, a total of 11 million shares, for which he paid an average price of $107 apiece. Lewis lost about $1.16 billion of his investment when on March 16, 2008 Bear Stearns was purchased in a straight stock swap with JP Morgan Chase in which JP Morgan paid the equivalent of $2.00 a share for Bear Stearns.

How to Make Your Blog Popular

Limit yourself to one topic. Your entire set of interests is unlikely to be matched by anyone else’s. Just because you like knitting, web development with Flash, Abyssinian cats, and geocaching doesn’t mean there’s a good set of readers for a knitting-Flash-Abyssinian-geocaching blog. Pick one area and stray outside it at your popularity’s peril. It can be broad (web workerhood is pretty broad) but if it is, it should be a broadly popular topic too.
Take a mainly objective stance towards the topic. Write like it could be out of a magazine. You might feel dumb at first, pretending like you know what you’re talking about. But that’s what people expect.
Eliminate the personal unless it is relevant to your topic. If you are interested in popularity rather personal expression, you shouldn’t be telling a whole lot of personal stories. What seems interesting and important to you about your own life probably isn’t all that interesting and important to your readers.
But let your personality show. If you are a little bit cynical and snarky, write that way. If you are a good-hearted and sweet person, let that run through each of your posts. If you are a crotchety curmudgeon, go with that. Be yourself; just don’t talk too much about yourself.
Think carefully about your headlines. I’m not a great headline writer yet–but I have realized their importance since beginning work on Blogger. With so many blogs competing for attention, you need to lure readers in and then fulfill whatever promise your headline holds.
Try writing list posts. Why do people like list posts so much? Maybe because they offer obvious value to the reader. They’re also easy to scan for important points and they force the writer to organize her thoughts. List posts are much less likely to be rambling bullshit than a typical essay-type post.
Become a power commenter. On Blogger, we don’t need to do that to get attention.
If you’re starting an individual blog, however, you’ll need to use different tactics. Build up a network one by one. Comment on posts you like. Reply to all comments you get. Read your commenters’ blogs.
Learn from the greats. My favorite bloggers on blogging are Darren Rowse of
ProBlogger and Brian Clark of CopyBlogger. Check out Kathy Sierra’s Creating Passionate Users
for a unique blog that’s raucously popular. Also, seek out the most popular bloggers in your topic domain and try to analyze why they’re successful.
Have fun! Your readers will be able to tell if you’re robotically following a list of tips from “how to make your blog popular” and your heart’s not in it. You need to love to write, to be passionate about the subject of your blog, and inspired by interactions with your commenters. It’s fun to write for a popular blog not because being popular is so fun in itself, but because it brings more of the same: more writing, more ideas, more people to interact with. So to wrap up… do it for fun, the popularity may follow.

High Yield Investment Program

A High-Yield Investment Program (HYIP) is a type of scam. At one time, it was used to refer to an investment program which may have offered a high return on investment. The term "HYIP" was abused by the operators of scams to camouflage their scams as legitimate investments. Due to this overuse by the operators, HYIP has become synonymous with scam or Ponzi scheme. The usage of the term has evolved to refer to a kind of Ponzi scheme that recruits "investors" through the Internet.
I think, 99% of all the HYIP on the internet are all scams.. There is 1% remaining and I'm out to find that 1%.. If you know really-paying HYIP, Pls let me know..
